Second Grade is a fun and exciting year of creating memories of our faith journey with God. This year your child will complete two Sacraments. Penance and Reconciliation and Holy Communion, aka Eucharist. Also, this year your child will learn how to write in cursive. This is a very important skill for the future. In Reading, your child will continue to advance their reading skills and language skills. They will read each evening as in the same style they did in first grade. I will need feedback from the parents at home about how the students are reading. In Math, your child will continue to build their addition and subtraction fact fluency. We will have quizzes to monitor their fact fluency. They will also learn how to add and subtract with and without regrouping. This will be the first year your child will use a Student Assignment Notebook. I will assign the students homework each evening. This will be written by them into their notebook. I use this planner as communication from school-to-home. This needs to be checked every night by the parents. This notebook is provided to them by the school. I look forward to another year at St. George School.
