Welcome to Preschool! My name is Jessica Jurd and I am excited to be joining the Saint George family this year! This year will mark my sixteenth year in education. I graduated in 2003 with my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood. I also received my Child Development Associate credential along the way. Over the years I have found that early childhood is my favorite area to teach and I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year as we lay the foundation for future learning!
We will be very busy this year. At this age children learn best through play and experiences. In the preschool classroom we will learn by doing, getting messy, investigating questions, using our imaginations, creating, and exploring the world around us. We will be exploring several different themes this year. Each theme is designed to facilitate learning though hands-on activities both teacher and student-led. Our classroom is organized so students have the opportunity to develop in the areas of social emotional, language and literacy, math, science, creative arts, fine motor, and their spiritual faith.
I love the joy of learning and the passion that each and every child brings with them as they discover through learning about the world around them. If you have any questions about our handbook, our classroom, or any of our policies please don’t hesitate to ask. I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year! It’s going to be a great year full of fun, learning, and lots of adventure!
